In Sinhala slang, “MARU” translates to ‘Awesome!’ – a fitting description of our vibrant dining experience.
Our journey began in Colombo, where our bustling outlet offers the same lively atmosphere as our coastal locations. Our love for Southern Sri Lanka led us to open oceanfront outlets in the historical Galle Fort and the popular Kurumba Bay promenade in Weligama. We’ve recently expanded to Hiriketiya, a vibrant surfing town, further extending our presence along the southern coast.

We’ve always been super inspired by Japanese food and culture – many Japanese ingredients feature in our menu. MARU also means ‘Circle’ in Japanese and is associated with goodness in Japan. MARU is also the basis for Enso, a traditional Zen Buddhist art that symbolizes enlightenment, strength and elegance. All of which gave us more reason to give this name to our chain of Poké Cafes.
